Evaluation Question Four

Who would be the audience for your media product?

 

The target audience for our thriller film is teenagers. I independently looked up why teenagers would be an ideal audience for our thriller film and according to research, teenagers have a better imagination than adults due to the fact that they don't have to worry about realities such as money or tax. Therefore, the teenagers would be able to engage with our thriller film due to the fact that their imagination is wider than any other audience member. We also chose our target audience to be teenagers and young adults because that age group will have the spare time to see our thriller film which would make our film more successful. Our pre-production research shows that there is a skew of people aged 16 and 17, which is our target audience. Therefore, our pre-production research is mainly based on our target audience.

 



Our thriller film would appeal to both male and females. Our thriller film would appeal to the male part of our audience due to the fact that they are able to experience danger without actually being in danger, and they may be attracted to the female characters starring in the thriller film. However, our thriller film would appeal to the female part of our audience due to the fact that all the protagonists in our thriller film are females. Therefore, the female part of our audience may feel like they can relate to the main characters in our thriller film. Our pre-production research contains a skew of males, however our results still helped us identify who was attracted to our thriller film.

 

When creating our media product, we felt that the thriller genre appealed more to teenagers, therefore, we created our film with the intentions of making it suitable for teenagers and young adults. The main reason we chose our target audience to be teenagers is because we are similar ages to them which would help us to choose a theme which would appeal and interest to the teenager age range. Before we created our thriller film, we conducted pre-production research by asking what people thought of our initial storyline.
